The number of women who are obese in the UK compared with most other countries in Europe, according to EU data.
Data representative of Eurostat, which examined in 19 countries, found that nearly a quarter of British women, or 23.9% are obese or overweight recorded in the year 2008 to 2009.
While the men who were obese were 22%, was second after Malta.
A person classified as obese if body mass index (BMI) they reach 30 or more. BMI is calculated by dividing weight by height squared. A person is overweight if their BMI reaches 25-30.
BMI correlates with body fat.
This data comes from the European health interview survey and the publication by Eurostat, the EU statistics office.
After English, the second country with the highest obesity rate in the group of women is Malta, with a number of Latvia 21.1% and 20.9%. Meanwhile, the third is Hungarian.
Britain is a country that has a high obesity rate is inversely proportional to Romania, where only 8% of women and 7.6% of men classified as obese.
Levels of obesity in Italy, Bulgaria and France are also low.
To reduce rates of obesity in Britain, Health Secretary Andrew Lansley launched a bid to reduce levels of obesity in England in 2020.
The minister said people should be more honest to them about the amount of food and drink them.
He said the entire population of the UK should reduce about 5 billion calories in their diet per day, from the amount consumed today.
